vcs 2025 Announced!
Roll up your sleeping bags and get your campfire stories ready for this year's Vacation Church School (VCS) at AUMC! This camp will be hosted from Tuesday, June 3 - Friday, June 6, 2025 from 9am-1pm. This camp is for current (2024-25 school year) PreK- 5th Graders. This year's theme is "Ghost Hunters: Searching for the Spirit". We'll meet some spooky (and friendly!) helpers around our campgrounds. All week long, through music, games, crafts, and more- we'll be finding evidence of the spirit of God all around us.

vcs frequently asked questions
What does VCS cost?
The cost of this year's VCS is $60 per camper. If you register on or before April 6th, Early Bird Registration is $45 per camper. Partial and full scholarships are available on a need basis. If you or a family you know is in need of financial assistance to attend, please contact Emily.
What is included in the cost of VCS registration?
VCS registration includes attendance for all 4 days, a t-shirt for each camper, snack every day, and all the supplies associated with camp for each day. Additionally, all youth and adult volunteers will receive t-shirts, refreshments, and snacks free of cost. So, part of the cost of VCS goes towards supporting the volunteer staff that make the week possible!
What age can attend VCS?
Children must be independently potty trained to attend camp. In general, PreK 4's are the youngest age suitable for the length and content of this camp. Additionally, while there is a snack/rest rotation room for all ages, there is not a nap time. So, campers must be able to comfortably go through the morning/afternoon without nap time.
The age range to attend VCS as a camper is PreK-5th Grade. Youth (6th-12th grade) are encouraged to participate in camp as volunteers! To learn more and register as a youth or adult volunteer, click HERE

Is lunch included?
While snacks are provided, a full lunch is not. There is a "snack/rest" rotation room and children are welcome to bring lunch if they need more than snack time to get through the afternoon!
What happens at camp?
The basic structure of camp is similar to our small group/large group model of our Sunday Children's programming. Each day will start and end with all children in Large Group. Here we will sing our VCS songs and discover our "lantern" of the day. From Opening Large Group, children will move with their age-based small groups through four rotational rooms- crafts, rec/games, Music, and snack/rest. In these rotational rooms, they will further explore our Large Group lessons.
***Our Preteen Small Group (4th/5th Graders) will not go to the craft room or snack/rest rotations. They will still have snack and rest time! However, these rotational times for them will be more age appropriate for their developmental stage!

What is VCS Sunday?
VCS Sunday is June 8th at the 10am service. We will have family worship on this morning and get to share all about our week with the congregation! Campers and volunteers will be encouraged to wear their VCS shirts on this morning!
I still have questions!
