Lenten Book Study:

Sometimes our faith can be best rekindled by the flames and light of the witness and work of others. This study will follow the faith journeys of John and Charles Wesley in 18c England as they experienced the faith, heart, enthusiasm, and spirit for reviving the Church of their time. We’ll learn more about the places, people, and purpose of the Wesleyan movement, and explore their relevance for our experiences of faith and life today.

For this study, we will use the book, Revival: Faith as Wesley Lived It (2014) by Adam Hamilton. Copies of the book will be available at the church in February or at book outlet of your choice.

The Book Discussion schedule will be as follows:
Feb. 22 Ch 1: Precursors to Revival
Mar. 1 Ch. 2: A Longing for Holiness
Mar. 8 Ch. 3: A Crisis of Faith
Mar. 15 Ch. 4: The Necessity of Grace
Mar. 22 Ch. 5: Works of Mercy
Mar. 29 Ch. 6: Persevering to the End

Holy Week Worship

Palm Sunday | March 29, 2026: A day of joyous celebration of Jesus’ arrival to Jerusalem! Worship at 8:15am (in-person) and 10am (in-person & livestream). Featuring meditative music from AUMC’s 2026 Lenten Cantata, “Journey to the Cross," performed by our Cantata Choir & Orchestra
(10am service only). Childcare will be available at both services. Children will lead us in the waving of palms and singing at 10am, followed by our annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt at 11am!

Maundy Thursday | April 2, 2026: A service of remembrance at 7pm (in-person & livestream). We remember how Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, broke bread together, and gave them a new commandment to love one another as he had loved them (John 13:34). Childcare available in the nursery.

Good Friday & Holy Saturday | April 3 & 4, 2026: Good Friday proclaims God's purpose of loving the world even in the face of human rejection and cruelty through the cross. Then, on Holy Saturday we wait in silence. A Good Friday recorded service will be available beginning Friday, April 3rd at 7:30am on our website, Youtube channel, and AUMC app (tv & mobile). Our Sanctuary will be open from 9am-12pm on Friday for meditation and prayer with pastoral presence. You can also visit the Chapel during this time for self-guided Stations of the Cross.

Easter Sunday | April 5, 2026: He is risen, indeed! Celebrate Easter Sunday at AUMC with worship at 8:15am (in-person) & 10am (in-person & Livestream) featuring the joyous sounds of JeffCo Brass. Children are encouraged to attend the 10am service for Family Worship. Childcare available in the nursery all morning.

Lenten Cantata:

Arvada United Methodists Church’s Cantata Choir will offer The Journey to the Cross: a Lenten Journey Through the Stations of the Cross in its Cantata offered as a concert on Friday, March 27th at 7:00 pm and as part of the 10:00 am service on Sunday, March 29th. The featured piece of the cantata will be Return to Me: A Choral Service Based on the Stations of the Cross with text by poet Terry W. York and music by composer Taylor Scott Davis. This stunning and deeply emotional work takes listeners on the journey of nine stations of the cross that are inspired by moments of the story told in scripture. Accompanied by piano and solo cello, the Cantata Choir will present this beautiful work while visual depictions of the stations of the cross are presented on screens. Both the concert and the service are free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken. Livestream available on Sunday only.

Outreach & Justice

Warm Hearts = Warm Bodies Winter Collection
Every Sunday in February

During these sometimes cold winter days, we can seek the warmth of our homes, fireplaces, and warm winter clothing when we are outside. Many of the students at the three schools AUMC supports (Foster PK-8, Lawrence PK -6, and N. Arvada Middle School) don’t have any or enough warm winter clothing this winter.

The teachers have asked for gently used and new winter coats, warm socks, gloves, and hats. These items should be in sizes for 4 year-olds to adult sizes.
Change for Change Collection
February 21 - April 5, 2026

Starting on Sunday, Feb. 21, you all can start giving your Change for Change. A large plastic gas can (from Uganda) will be in the narthex. You can put your change and paper bills in it. All monies collected throughout Lent will benefit Far Away Friends, an organization that provides incredible support for students and teachers in Uganda. The gas can will be in the narthex after each service from February 21 through Easter Day, April 5, to take your donations. Your change can change the lives of students in rural Uganda by helping them receive good educations.
