Labyrinth Walks

Location: West side of AUMC. Note: Since The Labyrinth @ AUMC is outdoors, events may be canceled due to inclement weather.

Description: A Labyrinth is considered an ancient prayer and meditation tool. The path leads you on a circuitous journey to the center and out again, where one can experience quieting of the mind, an opening of the heart, and a sense of wholeness, oneness, and peace. Join us at the dates and times below for community walks.

General Info
It's possible to walk the labyrinth in every kind of weather: snow, rain/mist, heat, wind, day or night year-round. Sure, the winter night when it’s 15 degrees and the wind zips at 15 mph we call off the walk—we’re not fanatics. But those evenings when the stars twinkle, the breeze rustles a leaf or two, the valley lights sparkle, and the crackling fire welcomes strangers as friends and sheds warmth and light to all, even the marshmallow-if too briefly? Priceless.
You, too, can experience the journey, one that touches heart, spirit, body, and mind, without leaving Arvada by walking the Labyrinth at AUMC. Open every day, year round, any community member can stop by and enjoy the view, walk the well-worn path, and contemplate the inner challenges we face as part of the human family.
Recognizing that life contains rhythms and cycles that we should honor, Labyrinth docents welcome you to join them for a Full Moon walk each month, seasonal walks to recognize the planets’ journey through the year, and when weather allows, a new year’s eve walk to welcome the new year.
2012 stands out with a blue moon; that is, a second full moon in the same month, this time in August! All Full Moon walks start at 7 pm. Our walks encourage a community conversation, with a fire for roasting marshmallows; however, if dry weather presents a fire risk, we may not light a fire.
