The John Allen Memorial Library
Availability: Anytime the church is open
Location: West Hall, next to room 209
The John Allen Memorial library at AUMC is a comfortable place to reflect, collect your thoughts or for intense study. The library houses diverse resources to support the theology of Arvada United Methodist Church. The AUMC Archives and the UMC library are also part of the library collection. A notebook directory containing lists arranged by author, title or subject for adult, youth and children’s resources is available to guide you through the library collection. Also available are resource lists for: Diversity, Large Print, Peace w/ Justice, Periodicals, Religion & Science and seniors.
A number of reference resources and a computer are available for use while in the library.
To borrow from the library:
• Enter your name and phone # on a book card
• Drop the card in the check out box
• Books, DVDs, Videos, CDs - due in one month
• Magazines - due in one week
• Reference materials are for use in the library only (limited checkout times can be arranged).
Meetings may be held in the library and arrangements for such use can be made by calling the church.
The library currently is without a librarian and operates with the dedication of a 7 member committee and 10 volunteers. At present the library collection contains about 2600 books, DVDs, CDs, Cassettes & Videos; 68% adult and 32% children/youth resources, very close to CSLA guidelines for a congregation membership such as that at AUMC. New materials are continuously added to the collection and suggestions for additions are always welcome.
The 2011-2012 Library and Archives Committee: Bob Canter - Chair, Betty Flaten - Treasurer, Eleanor Starcher – Archivist, Sue Thompson, Sally Garrish, Mitsuko Klein, Bonnie Hayman.
Meetings: 2nd Saturday of each month - 10:00 a.m. in the library.

Average monthly circulation 70-80: 2007 to 2011 (45–55 in 2003 to 2006).
Missing Resources
An average of 25 resources disappear each year. These resources are removed from the Library inventory lists after they are missing for one year. A current missing resource list is posted in the Library List Notebooks.
